German holds talks with Chelsea amid reports linking him with Arsenal and Bayern Munich

Chelsea potentially will be in the market for a new manager in the summer if they decide to part ways with Antonio Conte and a fresh name is receiving some buzz of late.

After seemingly being snubbed by Massimiliano Allegri who has committed himself to Juventus beyond this season, the Blues are now being mentioned as a potential suitor for Thomas Tuchel.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager has taken this season out of the game following a two-year spell at the Westfalenstadion but is believed to be ready to step back into the dugout this summer.

Arsenal, Bayern Munich and PSG have all been linked with moves for Tuchel to replace their current respective managers, but now Chelsea are being discussed as a possible destination.

Speaking on the Totally Football Show, German football expert Rafa Honigstein has revealed that Tuchel has made a strong impression on Chelsea following a meeting with the club, but adds a caveat that he is unsure as to when exactly the meeting took place.

I have it on pretty good authority that Thomas Tuchel made a very good impression on [Chelsea director] Marina Granovskaia in a meeting they’ve had. I don’t know how recent that meeting was.

Honigstein goes on to add that Chelsea did hold talks with Tuchel last summer about replacing Conte following claims the Italian could walk away after winning the Premier League title.

Remember, they were talking to him before the start of this season on the assumption that Conte might actually go.

Before anything can happen between Tuchel and Chelsea, Conte would need to be sacked as Blues boss which certainly isn’t set in stone just yet, but a failure to qualify for the Champions League will see the Italian placed under increased pressure.
