Mino Raiola has insisted that no rift has occurred between his client Paul Pogba and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.
Many speculated that the pair had reached an impasse after the Frenchman was taken off during defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, alongside being benched for games against Huddersfield Town and Chelsea.
But talk of any developing feud, with some even suggesting that Raiola was exploring other options for his client, between the two has abated after Pogba, playing on the left hand side of a midfield three, delivered a classy performance at home to Chelsea last weekend.
And Raiola, speaking to the Mirror, made it clear that there weren’t any problems between the pair.
“There’s no war with Mourinho, Paul wants to win with Manchester United,” he said.
“Of course, if things weren’t going well then I’d be ready to do my job, which is to find other solutions for the club and the player. But I don’t take anyone anywhere, I’m not a taxi or a plane.”
It is funny how one good performance – one important win – can stop a narrative dead in its tracks.
Prior to the Chelsea game things were reaching boiling point; Man United’s season, according to some, was in danger of going off the rails entirely. The prospect of Mourinho refusing use his best player – either properly or simply not at all – at such a crucial time of the campaign did at times feel nuclear within the annals of social media.
But that win over Chelsea has stopped those questions dead, mainly because Pogba, for all the questions surrounding his confidence, was back to his flamboyant, ebullient, thrilling best.
