Alexis Sanchez sent a bold message to his critics with a ruthless attacking display during Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Swansea City on Saturday.
The Chilean, who was dropped for the win over Brighton and Hove Albion, admitted recently to not playing well enough but within five minutes he had supplied a clever assist for Romelu Lukaku.
He continued to surge forward with purpose, finding pockets of space everywhere, and netted his first goal in ten games with a calm finish from Jesse Lingard‘s guided pass.
Sanchez’s numbers from the game demonstrate just how influential he was going forward against Carlos Carvalhal’s men.

The 29-year-old wheeled away, Old Trafford roaring in relief more than anything, and let out a roar that you could tell came right from his very core. He spoke himself last week of how he expected more from his performances at Man United – most notably against Sevilla.
Sanchez took to the pitch today like a man possessed, popping up in all kinds of positions to receive the ball and take players on. The forward played maybe ten yards further forward than normal – aided by Swansea’s flat back five – and it made all the difference; he was incisive, quick, skilful, a constant threat to the visitors.
He needed that. Big time. And supporters will desperately hope it serves as a catalyst for similar performances.
