Chelsea legend Frank Lampard believes manager Antonio Conte is right to feel frustrated over the Blues’ lack of transfer activity, and that the club will need to spend more if the want to keep star player Eden Hazard, the Evening Standard report.
Conte has publicly sounded his frustration over Chelsea’s business so far this month, with the club still strongly linked with Roma duo Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri.
Blues fans have been left shocked by the club’s other reported targets this month, which have included for West Ham’s Andy Carroll and Stoke’s Peter Crouch.
Club legend Lampard also believes the club need to be improving their squad, especially if they want to keep hold of Hazard and fellow Belgian Thibaut Courtois, both of whom have been linked with Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Chelsea have to show the ambition, if they want both of them to stay there, they have to keep adding to the squad in the right way. With the kind of money being spent elsewhere, Chelsea have to keep moving forward and recruiting new talent to play around them.
With Conte desperate to add to his squad before the window closes on Wednesday, the next few days may play a big part in not only Chelsea’s rest of the season, but also the futures of star players Hazard and Courtois.
