Serie A side Juventus are reportedly pondering over a move for Manchester United’s Italian defender and former Torino man Matteo Darmian.
The right-back moved to Old Trafford in 2015 under Louis Van Gaal‘s stewardship but hasn’t met the expectations placed on his shoulders since.
Fans knew they weren’t going to get the most adventurous full-back in the world but were keen to see a true defender ply their trade in a position Antonio Valencia was struggling in back then.
However, recently even Darmian’s defensive contributions have been called into question and he has fallen so far out of favour that centre-back Victor Lindelof now features in the position ahead of him.
The 28 year old has had an uninspiring career at United so far and rumours continue to link him with a move away from the club.
According to Football Italia, Matteo is on Juventus’ radar and the Italian giants are considering making an offer for the versatile defender.
Although he’s had his woes since moving to the Red Devils, it appears as though Juve believe they can bring out the best out of him once more.
Perhaps Matteo Darmian is simply suited more to Italian football than he is to English football where he may have been less protected on the field.
It’s also possible that the Old Lady are considering bringing him to the club since he would represent a relatively cheap option compared to other full-backs.
Mourinho is unlikely to want the defender at the club and with Darmian’s contract ending in 2019, he may be sold at cut-price value.
