Jose Mourinho has grown frustrated with the Manchester United board to sanction a £40m bid for Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose this month, according to reports.
The club’s hierarchy failed to secure a wide player for Mourinho over the summer, with Ivan Perisic ultimately signing a new deal at Inter Milan.
Mourinho expressed late interest in Rose over the summer amid continued concerns over Luke Shaw, but no deal ever materialised.
And according to the Mail Online‘s Chris Wheeler, the 54-year-old has become angry with the board for refusing to sanction a £40m bid for Rose over January to aid his limited options at full-back for the second half of the campaign.
The Man United hierarchy believe that Luke Shaw‘s recent resurgence, making six starts over December, precludes the necessity of further investments in that area over January – especially since it would mean Mourinho has to send a player the other way before doing any business.
But you can tell that Mourinho doesn’t fully trust Shaw, whose recent career has been a stream of promising spells followed by injuries, and wants a wholesale overhaul in that area sooner rather than later.
Having failed him already in the summer, alongside being considerably outspent by Manchester City, the board simply needs to make a statement.
