Arsenal legend, Martin Keown has said that Jack Wilshere is as good as players like Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil (via The Daily Mail).
It’s been a difficult few weeks for Arsenal on the pitch. A string of poor results in the Premier League means they have drifted down the table and injuries haven’t helped.
The Gunners are missing a number of first-team players but one man who has seemingly benefitted from that is Jack Wilshere.
The midfielder has been deployed in the centre of midfield in the Premier League during the absence of Aaron Ramsey and has performed extremely well. Now, former Arsenal star, Martin Keown has made a bold claim about the 26-year-old.
“Jack Wilshere proved against Chelsea on Wednesday that he is well and truly back, and a force to be reckoned with,” Keown wrote in his Daily Mail column.
“He is a superstar approaching the levels of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil but, crucially, he wants to play for Arsenal.
“It is no coincidence that we have seen improved performances from Sanchez and Ozil since Wilshere returned to the first team, too. They appreciate a player of his quality.
“There has been plenty of doom and gloom surrounding Sanchez and Ozil. In Wilshere, Arsenal have a beacon of hope for the future.”
Those are some big claims from Martin Keown but he isn’t far from the truth. Jack Wilshere has been wonderful at times in recent weeks and really shown the sort of quality which some people thought he had lost.
