Anthony Martial‘s ruthlessness in front of goal this season continued during Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Burnley as the Frenchman provided the decisive touch in the second half to hand Jose Mourinho’s men their fourth straight win.
The forward struggled to have an impact in the first half, seemingly unable to get in behind the hosts, but landed the crucial blow after 54 minutes.
Romeu Lukaku did brilliantly to brush aside a horde of Burnley shirts before sending the ball out to the left, leaving Martial to cut inside and smash home off the bar.
The 22-year-old’s numbers from the game once again underlined his newfound precision going forward this season.

It is becoming a wonderfully familiar sight: Martial, who must have a resting heart rate of about 20, controlling a pass with care, looking up slightly, and firing an arcing, fiercely riven shot into the top corner.
Everton, Stoke City and Burnley have all fallen victim to perfectly placed drives in recent times and such a trend reflects the way the Martial, following a difficult first campaign under Mourinho, is starting to display a real sense of maturity going forward, a sense of ownership over what he does.
That was his 11th of the season – just six away from the total managed in his breakthrough campaign – and we can expect many more to come.
