Paul Pogba put in an utterly dominating performance in Manchester United’s 2-0 win against Everton on Monday evening.
The Frenchman was vital in guiding Man United to their first victory since well before Christmas after a defeat to Bristol City was followed by three consecutive draws against Leicester City, Burnley and Southampton.
Pogba started at number 10 in a new 4-3-3 formation for United, and Jose Mourinho reaped the rewards of that decision, watching his star man drift to the left flank and tear Everton apart.

The 24-year-old hasn’t been at his best since returning from a three-match suspension which saw him miss the Manchester derby. Moments of world-class quality have been seen, but he’s gone missing occasionally.
Monday was a different story. Pogba assisted Anthony Martial’s superb opener before Jesse Lingard secured the three points with an even better strike, once more assisted by Pogba as he hit six assists for the season.
He was unstoppable, inventive and made United fans’ jaws drop at times with his quality.
Hopefully we’ll get to see Pogba play in that more attacking position more often. Too regularly this season he’s been forced to drop back past his own halfway line to collect the ball off one of the centre-backs and thus hasn’t had the opportunity to show his true quality.
The only worry is who plays behind him. The pairing of Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera isn’t entirely convincing against Everton, let alone a stronger side.
