Real Madrid will be open to selling Gareth Bale in January as Zinedine Zidane looks to make drastic changes to his squad following a disappointing first half of the season, according to reports from Spain.
Jose Mourinho publicly expressed interest in signing the Welshman over the summer, only for Zidane to confirm that he was part of his plans for the upcoming campaign.
But another string of injury problems, alongside a dip in form this season, has led to Madrid now being open to letting Bale leave.
And according to Spanish media outlet Diaro Gol, the Champions League winners will sanction a move away for the 28-year-old in January for around £80m.
Madrid decided against making any notable changes to their squad in the summer after claiming successive European titles under Zidane and are now paying the price.
They have gone slightly flat, devoid of fresh options needed to turn games in their favour, and will undoubtedly spend big next year to regenerate their squad.
Needless to say, Bale will be moved on in order to help facilitate this process. The question that remains, therefore, is whether Mourinho will pour his resources into signing the winger and do battle with the Madrid hierarchy once again.
