Manchester United are lining up an offer worth £25m to sign Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham in January, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho expressed interest in the youngster after he broke into the first team aged just 16 last season, but Fulham made it clear that they weren’t prepared to sell under any circumstances.
Sessegnon signed a professional contract with the West London side last summer and has emerged as one of the brightest young English talents in the game over the last year, netting a hat-trick against Sheffield United last month.
And according to the Guardian‘s Ed Aarons, Man United are launching a fresh approach to sign the teenager in January and would let Luke Shaw leave in order to make way for the deal.
Supporters wouldn’t want to see the latter – who has shown signs of a resurgence in recent weeks – depart the club unless a player with superior pedigree comes in alongside Sessegnon, with Juventus left-back Alex Sandro emerging as the most likely candidate at this moment in time.
United have turned up the heat on their pursuit of a player whose rise to prominence at such a young age has attracted both Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid, and he could may well serve as a long-term solution to a left-back problem that has dragged on for some time now.
