Manchester United confirm signing of French teenage midfield prodigy

Manchester United have officially completed the signing of young French talent Aliou Badara Traore.

The former-Paris Saint-Germain midfielder signed a contract at Man United some months ago as part of a whole host of foreign signings into the academy sign during the summer.

Finally, Traore has been granted international clearance and has completed his move to United.

From England, Dishon Bernard signed from Chelsea on a scholarship deal as well as Belgian-Burundi winger Largie Ramazani. Arnau Puigmal, a midfielder, arrived from Espanyol and Ethan Galbraith from Northern Ireland after a series of trials at the club.

Traore had been tipped for great things at PSG before he left to join a team of far lower reputation, Sarcelles. Some suggest that’s due to a desire to leave PSG for another top European side, something that would be unlikely to be allowed, and thus he left temporarily to a lower-quality side.

He’s a box-to-box midfielder who’s been capped for the French under-16 side. Confirmation of his signing effectively came in July when pictures of him signing a deal for the Reds were released, but he hasn’t been able to play for United since due to the wait for international clearance.

It’s a development that has frustrated many deals at United. Regan Poole, a defender who signed from Newport County when he was 17, had to wait months and months to play for United, and the same happened more recently to winger Millen Baars. He signed from Ajax and received international clearance only seven months later meaning his first games for the club were this summer, despite arriving in November 2016.

Thankfully, Traore hasn’t had to wait too long and can now show his talent in United’s under-18s side.
