Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has called on star youngsters Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford to perform on the same levels that Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane are for Manchester City.
The two academy products started the season in fine form but both players performances have dipped in recent matches, coinciding with the club’s own displays.
Rashford and Martial have been competing for the same spot in the starting XI all season in comparison to Sterling and Sane often featuring together.
With the striker position almost exclusively taken up by Romelu Lukaku, both prospects have had to make do with the left wing position whilst Raheem and Leroy play in their natural positions.
Regardless of the comparisons between the talented bunch, Scholes believes in his former club’s players and has called on them to produce for United the same way the other pair do for City.
Scholes: “The talent’s there. Look at Rashford, Martial, look at Sterling and Sane. Them two should be as good as them.” #mufc

Red Devils’ manager Jose Mourinho is perhaps to blame for not making the most out of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.
In fact, some fans can argue that he actually impedes them and their development despite affording them match time.
The argument is that he’s playing them in positions they’re unfamiliar or uncomfortable with and so they can’t develop as naturally as they may have as strikers.
There’s also the argument that perhaps he’s featured them too often and so both players have effectively burnt-out, losing their form in the process.
The other side to things is that Mourinho doesn’t really have any alternatives and his hand has been forced a little by the situation he’s found the club in.
