Manchester United target Fabinho has confirmed that he’ll leave AS Monaco during next summer’s transfer window.
Jose Mourinho reportedly expressed a keen interest in securing the Brazilian’s services after he played a central role in Monaco’s title success last season.
But Fabinho was denied a move and has since publicly voiced his frustration at being denied a transfer whilst the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, Timeoue Bakayoko and Benjamin Mendy were handed big deals elsewhere.
And Fabinho, speaking earlier this week, confirmed that he would find himself a new club over the summer.
“I don’t think so,” he said when asked about a January exit. “I’ve had no contact [from other clubs] and I’m secure at Monaco.”
“[But] ordinarily, it’s my last season at Monaco. Nothing is signed.
“During the [close-season] transfer window, and even a month afterwards, it was a little difficult to live with the situation. But I don’t think about it anymore, I’ve turned the page.”
The frustration Fabinho, who has suffered a Champions League group stage exit already this term, must be feeling as his former teammates flourish at various big clubs can only be imagined.
Juventus and Atletico Madrid are among others said to be interested in the midfielder but Mourinho’s interest in him dates back to his first summer as Man United boss.
And the 54-year-old will be desperate to land Fabinho’s signature amid uncertainty surrounding whether Michael Carrick or Marouane Fellaini will be here next season,
