Manchester United’s Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera has just possibly had a sly dig at Gary Neville whilst wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
The former Atletico Bilbao man has had a tough season so far in Jose Mourinho second year in charge with fans concerned whenever he’s involved in the match day squad.
Herrera was voted Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year last year but has been a shadow of himself since the start of the campaign.
He’s suddenly become an unreliable player who looks short of confidence; a far cry from the menacing midfielder he was previously.
Neville criticised Ander for his lack of leadership and indecision during the Red Devils disappointing draw with Leicester City and it seems as though he may just be firing back.
Happy Christmas to everyone, including the ones that try to invent stories that never happened #sofunny #trytobehappyanddontlye
— Ander Herrera (@AnderHerrera) December 24, 2017
No other real media stories have come out on Ander Herrera since the match vs Leicester and so it appears unlikely that he was referring to anything else.
Herrera was involved with the mess that happened during the dying embers of the game that allowed the Foxes to scored the equaliser.
Manchester United dropped crucial points, allowing Manchester City to open up the gap between both clubs to 13 points.
Chris Smalling picked up an injury that looked to have ended his time on the field but none of his United teammates helped to shuffle the players around to move the Englishman away from danger.
It was Smalling who ended up losing Harry Maguire to allow the defender to score from a dangerous set piece and Gary criticised Ander for apparently refusing to join the defence to reinforce the backline.
