Man United legend claims young star can become full package

Former Manchester United player Andy Cole has given his verdict on the club’s young star and academy product Marcus Rashford.

Rashford has had an impressive start to his second season under Jose Mourinho’s management and is going from strength to strength in terms of his ability and maturity.

In the recent match against Newcastle, the English international didn’t want to be left out of the goals and assisted Paul Pogba delightfully with a precise header.

Adding goals and assists to his game this season, Marcus can start to walk away from the talented youngster title to an actual contributor to his team’s success.

Cole also believes that his position out on the left wing can help him understand the game more for when he becomes a striker in the future, making him a more complete footballer.

Speaking to ESPN FC, Andy said: “I look at him [Rashford] at the moment, he’s scoring goals and he’s bringing a lot more things to his game.

“I think he will end up as a centre-forward. I just think at the moment having [Romelu] Lukaku in the team and obviously Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] coming back as well, I think it’s good.

“He will learn off the left because when he becomes a centre-forward he will have the full package.”

Having to fight for his position this season with another young star in Anthony Martial, the competitiveness and friendly rivalry has brought out the best out of the pair.

There will come a time when Jose Mourinho will have to make a decision on who to play out right but that will problem dealt with in the future.

In the mean time, both can continue to excel and grow into important players to the squad although one can argue they’ve already done so.

Perhaps Mourinho will eventually play the two players together in the same line-up, a decision United fans have to called to before.

Either way, with Rashford and Martial firing on all cylinders this season, the Red Devils may just have a chance at securing their first title win since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
