Juventus, Napoli and Roma are all keen on launching bids to bring Matteo Darmian back to Serie A in the January transfer window, according to reports from Italy.
The full-back was strongly linked with a move to Serie A following a disappointing opening campaign under Louis van Gaal but made it clear that he wanted to remain at Old Trafford at fight for his place in the side.
He enjoyed an impressive run of games during Jose Mourinho’s opening campaign, enjoying an impressive run towards the latter stages of the season, but has only made two Premier League starts this term.
And according to Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus, Napoli and Roma have all reignited their interest in the 27-year-old ahead of the January transfer window.
Mourinho has been told by the board that he will have to sell players in January before landing any new recruits, but Darmian is unlikely to be a member of the squad he considers dispensable mid-way through the season.
After all, the Portuguese actively fought against interest from various Serie A sides over the summer. He needs a proper left-back sooner rather than later and cannot keep alternating between Darmian, Ashley Young and Daley Blind, but for the time being he will not sanction moves away for any of the aforesaid trio.
