Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have both returned to full training at Manchester United and could receive places in the match-day squad against Newcastle United on Saturday, according to reports.
The 24-year-old, who has missed the last 12 games under Jose Mourinho, trained with the reserves over the international break and told France teammates that he would be ‘back soon’.
Zlatan, meanwhile, was videoed putting himself through some shooting exercises by Marouane Fellaini earlier this month and has been working closely with medical staff at Carrington for some time.
And according to The Sun‘s Neil Custis, the pair have progressed well over the last few weeks and are in contention for a place on the bench against Newcastle.
Zlatan is not expected to return to action for at least a month and will, you sense, play a few games with the reserves before being eased back into the fold under Mourinho following such a prolonged period on the sidelines.
And you sense that United will be just as cautious with Pogba, whose absence has been felt hard over the last month, before throwing him back into the limelight.
Either way, their returns are edging ever closer, and it ought to have a galvanising effect on a side that has lacked ideas at times in recent weeks.
