Swansea boss Paul Clement is delighted that Chelsea’s record signing Alvaro Morata has proved his early-season critics wrong, the Daily Mail report.
The pair know each other well from their time at Real Madrid together, where Clement was Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant, and Morata was trying to shift Karim Benzema out of the side and make the centre-forward’s role his.
With the pair set to meet on Wednesday when Clement brings his struggling Swansea side to Stamford Bridge, Clement was full of praise for the Spanish international.
He’s strong, quick, good in the air and knows what it’s like to play for a big club. The critics were on him immediately, it was only two or three games into the season and they were onto him saying he was not good enough. Now he’s scoring and performing, and when he’s not in the team people are saying ‘We need Morata back’.’
Morata, who joined in the summer as a direct replacement to Diego Costa who is set to join Atletico Madrid in January, has found the back of the net nine times in his first 18 appearances for the Blues, and will be hoping to add to that when he takes on his former assistant at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
