Andreas Pereira has expressed his delight with the progress made during his first two months on loan at Valencia.
The Brazilian, following a productive spell with Granada last season, moved back to La Liga on deadline day to work under new Valencia manager Marcelino.
And he has played an important – yet not central – part in a side in second place and currently four points ahead of Real Madrid in La Liga, making just four starts but claiming a goal and three assists so far this season.
Speaking to Spanish media outlet Super Deporte, Pereira made it clear that he was currently focused on his endeavours at Valencia but noted that returning to Old Trafford served as a good option.
“Everything is going very well, the whole squad is happy here,” he said. “We want to keep this, I think everyone want to stay here.”
“Sure, it’s a very good option for me, it would be positive. I’m happy at Valencia CF.”
I’m going to stick my neck out and predict that we won’t see Pereira playing for United again.
Working under Mourinho would be a ‘good option’, of course, but not the one you sense he wants. The 21-year-old’s mazy, somewhat intuitive style – which centres more around passing, picking up smart positions and interchanging than tracking up and down the pitch – suits La Liga down to a tee.
He moved back to Spain primarily for more minutes on the pitch but also because, on a more general level, the footballing culture feels more familiar to him. We’ve heard it from the horse’s mouth: he is happy at Valencia, and he certainly won’t swap it for a place on the bench at Old Trafford next season.
