Luke Shaw is focused on getting back into the starting XI at Manchester United amid speculation suggesting he could leave the club in January, according to reports.
The 22-year-old has failed to breach the Premier League match-day squad even once this season, making just two appearances off the bench in the Carabao Cup.
His continued absence from Mourinho’s plans has prompted reports that his relationship with the manager has completely broken down ahead of a January move away, with various Premier League sides supposedly interested.
But according to IBTimes‘ Naveen Ullal, the Englishman has resolved to fight for his place at Old Trafford and will not seek a January move away.
The notion that anybody, no matter how far they sink, can work their way back to the top is one of the more beautiful things about football and sport in general. Even the bleakest situation can be reversed with time.
And we should never rule out the possibility of Shaw doing exactly that over the course of this season. Only 32 Premier League starts in almost three and a half years has led to many forgetting about the raw power and urgency he can offer down the left hand side, but that brilliance is still there somewhere. Deep down.
Supporters will hope that Mourinho gives the beleaguered youngster a chance those first few step over the next few months.
