Manchester United fans will be delighted to see how happy Raphael Varane looked when speaking to Paul Pogba.

The sensational defender won’t be a Real Madrid man for much longer given how all parties agree on a transfer.

United moved quickly to secure Varane’s signature, following the confirmed signing of Jadon Sancho as well.

The two transfers have left supporters thoroughly pleased in what is one of the club’s best windows in recent history.

Pogba and Varane are obviously international teammates and there’s no doubt they’ll be happy to lineup alongside each other on a club level too.

The Peoples Person last covered Varane news when The Telegraph and The Athletic both praised the Red Devils’ swiftness in the transfer.

The towering defender’s arrival will arguably bring out even more quality from Pogba given the tactics involved.

After all, Varane’s arrival will give the defence an assurance that is expected to result in the midfield being given more freedom.

The lack of a need to protect the defence should see Pogba play further forward and impact the team more as a result.

There have already been reports of a switch from a 4-2-3-1 formation to a 4-3-3 and the latter is a formation the former Juventus man excelled in.

Nonetheless, fans will be thoroughly excited to see Varane at Old Trafford and the hope is Pogba will stay for the long-term future too.

Fitness bonus: Ole boosted by return of superstars and injured ace

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given a positive update regarding long-term absentee Anthony Martial.

Martial has been out of action since picking up a knee injury while on international duty with France in March.

It meant that the centre-forward missed the final months of the club season and the chance to represent his country during Euro 2020.

Solskjaer has revealed that the Frenchman is building up his fitness at Carrington and is now close to a return to full training.

As reported on United’s official website, the United boss said, “Anthony Martial has joined us, but he’s not joined…training yet. He’s recovering…and that looks good.”

Meanwhile, the Norwegian has revealed that a few other players appear close to returning ahead of the club’s final two pre-season friendlies.

“Dean (Henderson) is back in training, “he said, “Diogo (Dalot) and Donny (van de Beek) have trained and they’re ready to play a part…I would think they’ll be subs.”

Reds’ talisman Bruno Fernandes is also said to be back in training, although tonight’s game against newly promoted Brentford will come too soon for him to feature.

Solskjaer said, “Bruno is back in training. He’s not ready to join the Brentford game…but he’s not too far.”

Midfielder Scott McTominay is also said to be close to a return following his Euros exploits with Scotland.

However, there were some clouds to blot the otherwise sunny outlook, with Alex Telles out for a few weeks with an ankle problem.

The injury puts extra pressure on the fitness of Luke Shaw, who is himself recovering from broken ribs sustained while on international duty with England.

Not again!: Midfield star uses United's name for personal gain

Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka is in talks with the club to extend his contract.

With a year left on his current deal, Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for the German midfielder in 2022.

According to Christian Falk (via BILD), United have offered him a higher salary than Bayern and see him as a possible replacement to Paul Pogba.

Goretzka has been offered €10-12 million by Bayern to extend his stay, but he is looking for a significant wage package of €20m to match Leroy Sane’s salary, claim the German outlet.

The club does not want to lose its star man but is reportedly not willing to pay over the odds due to the player’s poor injury record.

However, as per Fabrizio Romano, Bayern President Herbert Hainer confirmed the German club’s intention to keep Goretzka.

In an interview with German outlet Spox, he addressed the rumours surrounding the 26 year old’s future.

“We are in good and constructive talks with Goretzka to extend the contract, same for Kimmich. Further talks can now take place. Hopefully, we can find a solution.”

This would reiterate the claim made by Manchester Evening News that a player’s agent has once again used United’s name to receive a better contract.

After completing the signing of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, the Red Devils are in the market for a central midfielder.

Goretzka is likely to stay at Bayern, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be looking at alternatives.

With five weeks left of the transfer window, the hunt for a midfielder is well and truly on!

Untold future: United's forgotten man back in training amid transfer speculation

Manchester United’s forgotten full-back Diogo Dalot is back in pre-season training but could still be transferred out of the club if a new offer arrives.

Dalot spent last season out on loan with Italian club AC Milan. The loan move was secured after a previous season of little contribution to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

The Portuguese defender managed to prove himself on loan after breaking into the first team after multiple first-team defenders were injured. Dalot made regular appearances for the second half of his loan after impressive displays.

It was also a good end to the season for Dalot as he was called up to the Portuguese senior squad after a player tested positive for Coronavirus meaning Portugal needed to fill in a spot.

The 22-year-old managed to achieve 21 league appearances while scoring a goal for the Rossoneri and now he is back with the United squad ahead of the new season.

According to calciomercato.com, there is still a dialogue about a possible return for Dalot to AC Milan between the two clubs even though the player is training with Man United’s first team.

United have made it clear to the Italians that the conditions to sell still remain the same.

Those conditions are a loan deal that costs €3 – €4 million (£2.6m-£3.4m) with the obligation to purchase the player at the start of the next summer transfer window.

According to the outlet, Paolo Maldini, the Rossoneri’s technical director as well as Frederic Massara, their director of football, are prepared to make a new offer sometime this week to try and secure a new loan deal.

The two sides are yet to agree with the conditions as it’s proving to be a little pricy for the Italian side after securing new deals elsewhere in the squad.They woould also prefer an option to purchase rather than an obligation.

United may be a little sceptical about letting go of the player at the moment considering the club have an injury crisis, with Alex Telles out until a couple of weeks after the start of the season and the injury to Luke Shaw, the extent of which has not been fully disclosed.

Dalot could be held back until deadline day before being loaned out, in the hopes that the injury crisis is resolved by then, or the club could still risk letting him go as soon as the new offer arrives.

Raphael Varane transfer: English media praise Manchester United’s swiftness

Manchester United reportedly impressed many people during their negotiations for Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane.

The towering centre-back is set to join his new club in around a week’s time after all parties came to an agreement over a transfer.

United had been chasing Varane in recent weeks as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saw him as the ideal man to bring in to partner Harry Maguire.

Fans are still in disbelief the transfer has been made official and they certainly can’t wait to see him in the famous red shirt.

According to The Telegraph, a move to the Red Devils became clearer as early as March, after Varane turned down Madrid’s final offer, having been in constant dialogue from the end of January.

In fact, the sensational Frenchman began gaining interest in the transfer last summer, when it became clear it was now or never for a new challenge.

It’s understood Marid’s final offer was even worth more than the £20m annual offer (including image rights and bonuses) Varane eventually agreed to with Manchester United.

The Telegraph continue in their report that Solskjaer’s side’s handling of the transfer has been described as “pretty slick” from start to finish.

Director of football Matt Judge was still in charge while football director John Murtough and technical director Darren Fletcher convinced Varane’s camp by putting together a presentation discussing the club’s culture, philosophy, and plans.

According to The Athletic, the speed of the Varane deal took many by surprise and he’s expected to sign his contract after his medical, which will only take place after his quarantine is over.

It’s believed United felt the World Cup winner was undoubtedly better than the club’s other targets Pau Torres and Jules Kounde.

Contract rejected: Man United face biggest problem of the summer

Manchester United are reportedly a step closer to losing Paul Pogba to PSG as the race for his signature continues to heat up.

According to RMC Sport, the Ligue 1 giants are expected to accelerate their bid to sign the World Cup winner given how there is mutual interest between both parties.

It’s understood PSG have been keeping an eye on Pogba’s situation for many months now and they are hoping to pounce.

According to Canal Supporters, the sensational Frenchman has actually declined an offer to extend from United and it’s not clear if a second offer will be made or not.

This is backed by the Tweet below:

Transfer chaos: United face financial dilemma to get key signings

Manchester United’s transfer business may not yet all be done this summer.

The Red Devils are exploring the possibility of bringing in a new midfielder or a right-back. However, the club will need to sell players to facilitate funds.

United are targeting an overall net spend of between £75 million and £100m this window, claim The Telegraph.

It means any future signings would depend on possible sales.

United confirmed on Tuesday night that they had reached an agreement in principle with Real Madrid for the transfer of Raphael Varane.

The club will pay £34 million-plus add-ons with the payments being spread out over a number of years, as per  The Athletic.

According to The Telegraph, Paul Pogba’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, with the Frenchman likely to demand a substantial contract.

Paris Saint-Germain are considering an approach for the 28 year old who has a year left on his contract. United are said to want nothing below €50 million.

A possible exit for the French star could open the door for United to sign a replacement this window.

Moreover, Jesse Lingard is being monitored by clubs, both domestic and overseas, after his impressive loan spell at West Ham United. Man United value him at £30 million.

Axel Tuanzebe, Brandon Williams, Diogo Dalot, Andreas Pereira and Facundo Pellestri are among those who could leave on loan or even permanently in some cases.

It will also be interesting to see how Solskjaer handles the goalkeeper situation, with David De Gea and Dean Henderson unlikely to settle as an understudy.

James Ducker’s article also throws light on United’s enormous wage bill.

United’s revenues for the 2019-20 season were down to £509m from £627m the previous year.

The figure could yet dip below £500m for next season, in what would be the lowest turnover for six years.

This arguably leaves some room for manoeuvre from a salary perspective, but with the completion of the Varane deal, United have committed almost £120 million in transfer fees this summer.

So, iff Solskjaer plans on bringing in another player, it will most likely hinge on the possibility of a significant sale.

Dream midfield signing desperate to join United over Arsenal this summer: report


After signing Raphael Varane, Manchester United’s attention turns to signing a midfielder and that could be Wolverhampton Wanderers star, Ruben Neves.

According to the Mirror, a central midfielder is said to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s next priority and it has been reported that Wolves star Neves would prefer to wait and see if Man United can strike a deal than move elsewhere.

Premier League club Arsenal have been heavily linked throughout the transfer window to the Portuguese star.

The midfielder can play anywhere in the midfield triangle, having played in multiple positions already during his Wolves career.

Solskjaer has always signed players who can play in a fluid system and this is something that would suit Neves’ style of play.

Neves has been a favourite for Wolves ever since helping them achieve promotion back to the Premier League during the 2017-18 season.

He then went on to be a key part of their first top-flight season as they secured Europa League football.

Appearing 13 times in that competition with Wolves and plenty more in the Champions League with his former club Porto, Neves is no stranger to European competitions and is seen as a perfect and ideal fit for Solskjaer’s side.

The Mirror later reveal that Eurosport’s Dean Jones told The Football Terrace that “In terms of Neves, they have definitely tried that”, meaning that Arsenal has already tried to secure a transfer for the player.

“Again, the player [is] not sure if that’s the right move for him at this stage, and with Manchester United also in view for him, he’d rather wait things out and see whether that can actually come to fruition”

For United fans, this will provide a huge boost of confidence that the player wants to join the Red Devils and be a part of Solskjaer’s rebuild at the club.

If the manager and the club truly want Neves to arrive at the club, it could be a case of ‘now or never’ as the player is almost certain to leave Wolves this summer.

From Portugal: Bruno Fernandes describes being 'mentally and physically broken'

Manchester United’s talisman Bruno Fernandes has admitted to suffering a ‘mental and physical breakdown’ at the end of last season.

In a report by the Portuguese outlet A Bola, it is claimed that ‘Bruno Fernandes was part of Manchester United’s pre-season work this Tuesday and, in an interview with AP [Associated Press], the Portuguese midfielder admitted to having suffered a mental and physical breakdown at the end of last season.’

The interview was also covered by O Jogo in Portugal, although they did not refer to the words ‘mentally and physically broken’ as A Bola did.

Both articles continue with almost identical quotes from the interview from Fernandes (this from A Bola):

‘It was basically two seasons in one due to Covid-19.

‘In 2019/20 we were eliminated by Sevilla in the Europa League and we had five or six days to rest before we started a new season. It was very tough.’

‘A player comes to the end of the season and only thinks about holidays, family and rest.

‘But it’s good to be back and be able to get back on the pitch, playing the ball.’

In recent months, Fernandes has gone on record more than once to say that he did not feel tired.

In January, he said ‘I’m 26 years old, so I can’t be tired. If I was tired now, I wouldn’t be playing at all by the time I was 30 or 32.

Again in May, he told the club’s official website:

‘When the coach wants me, it’s important to know I’m ready to play every game, every minute.

‘I will never say I’m [too] tired to play because this is my dream. I will never be tired to play.

‘When I was a kid, I played maybe seven or eight hours a day. So, to play 90 minutes every three days or two days is not enough for me.’

And during Euro 2020, Fernandes said ‘“I hope I can put some pressure on our national coach by saying this. I don’t feel tired: forget about it. It’s the opposite.’

Without seeing the entire transcript it would appear that the words ‘mentally and physically broken’ are those of A Bola’s reporter rather than Bruno himself. However, it also seems clear by his own words that he was in poor shape and desperate for a holiday.

It was also clear to see the same from his performances toward the end of the season and in Euro 2020.

There was some criticism of United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for overplaying Fernandes since his arrival from Sporting Lisbon and it will be important, no matter how vital he is to the team and how much he insists he is fit, that the Portuguese magnifico is rotated far more often in the coming season.

4-3-3: Solskjaer has big opportunity to unleash new weapons vs Brentford

Manchester United continue their pre-season preparations tonight with a home tie against newly promoted Brentford.

The game will provide another chance to evaluate some fringe players while allowing senior squad members to gain valuable match fitness ahead of the new season.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that Diogo Dalot and Scott McTominay are back in training but will probably be on the bench.

Dean Henderson is back in training but will not be ready.

Bruno Fernandes has also returned to training but it will be too soon for him to take part.

Alex Telles is definitely out after sustaining an injury in training and the remaining players that played in Euro 2020 and the Copa America have not yet returned from holiday.

Tahith Chong has now joined his loan club, Birmingham City.

The team selection will once again therefore boil down to how much Solskjaer prioritises getting first team regulars fit versus taking a look at youth and fringe players in order to evaluate them and, potentially, place them in the shop window for loan moves or transfers.

Against QPR last time out, the boss started with a fairly senior side, substituting in the younger players in the second half. However, their superior performance to the seniors might mean that a few get to start.

We think Anthony Elanga might get a start after impressing on Saturday, although Facundo Pellistri has also been performing very well in pre-season so far.

Will Fish might be given a start ahead of Tenden Mengi at centre back although his imminent move to Stockport might mean that there is little advantage to working on his fitness at this stage.

We therefore think that Ole will persist with the Tuanzebe-Mengi partnership, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right back and Brandon Williams at left back.

The most senior starting XI remaining would therefore be a midfield three of Matic, Pereira and Lingard, with Dan James on one wing and either Elana or Pellistri on the other, with Mason Greenwood leading the line again.

With all that in mind, here is our predicted starting XI for the game:

United keen to tie up new contract for in-demand man amid exit talks

Manchester United are preparing to offer a contract extension to Axel Tuanzebe before a potential loan move out, according to a new report.

Tuanzebe’s current contract expires next summer although United have the option to extend for a further year. But according to Sky Sports, United will seek to extend that deal before considering further options.

The young centre back has proclaimed his desire for regular first team football and with the signing of Raphael Varane, the prospects of that occurring at Old Trafford are slim.

In order to get the required playing time, Tuanzebe looks set for a loan move but a new contract is on the cards first as “United want to maintain Tuanzebe’s value if he goes on loan.”

Currently the front runners for the academy graduate’s services is Newcastle United.

Desperate for more time on the pitch, Tuanzebe has made only six Premier League starts in the past two seasons.

At 23, the centre back has played a shockingly low amount of senior football with only 4,838 minutes under his belt. Or in other terms, just under 54 full appearances.

Through a mix of injuries and failing to earn Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s trust, Tuanzebe has seen little opportunity to build on his promising loan spell at Aston Villa two years ago.

Despite impressive glimpses of his abilities, such as a world class performance against PSG, a run of games to find form have not been afforded to the Congo born defender.

In a bid to get his career back on track, Tuanzebe hinted at a move last month when he said “I haven’t had the run of games that I’ve hoped for, but, next season, I’ll definitely be playing football.”

A move to Newcastle United looks to be on the cards with a reunion with Steve Bruce, the man who initially brought Tuanzebe to Aston Villa.

With Varane’s signing being confirmed, movement on Tuanzebe’s future can be expected in the coming weeks.

United's budget revealed: Solskjaer prepares huge triple swoop, but there’s a catch

Manchester United are reportedly in the market for up to three more players, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been warned that he will now need to sell before he can buy.

United have hogged the headlines since the transfer window opened, with a £73m deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho finally complete.

And, in the past 24 hours, it has been revealed that the Red Devils finalised a £34m swoop for Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane.

ESPN’s Mark Ogden has now revealed that Solskjaer is keen to further bolster his squad, however much could depend upon the sale of a host of players that includes Paul Pogba.

Ogden reports that United’s hierarchy suspect the Frenchman is inclined to leave, with Paris St-Germain the only club to have expressed a firm interest thus far.

It is claimed that United’s board value the midfielder at close to £50m, with funds from the sale to be made available for further reinforcements.

The squad could be trimmed further still, with United thought to be willing to entertain offers for Jesse Lingard, Brandon Williams, Diogo Dalot, Alex Telles, Phil Jones, Andreas Pereira, and Daniel James.

Additionally, with three quality goalkeepers now on the books, it is believed that the club could sanction either a loan or permanent deal for either David de Gea or Dean Henderson.

Finally, it is claimed that fans’ favourite Antony Martial could also be sold – but only if the right bid is received.

The club hopes to recoup close to £100m in player sales, which would be used to pursue a shortlist of potential targets.

Solskjaer’s transfer wish list is thought to include Atletico Madrid’s Keiran Trippier, Rennes’ midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, and versatile Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.

The Norwegian seems to have a strangely imbalanced squad; one that appears bloated in some positions, yet worryingly threadbare in others.

In that regard, it makes sense for some of the lingering deadwood to be axed to make room for new recruits in more problematic areas.

Whether the volume of sales required is plausible in what appears to be a depressed market will become clearer between now and the 31st of August.

Incoming title challenge? The crucial stats behind new world-class Man United signing

As reported by the BBC, Sky News and transfer specialist, Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are on the verge of signing French centre-back Raphael Varane from Real Madrid pending a medical.

The news broke yesterday that United and Real had agreed on a fee of £34 million for the 28-year-old, who was eager to test himself in the Premier League and for its most decorated club.

The signing (pending a medical) will mean that the Red Devils will have, arguably, one of the best back-fours in Europe.

Last season, local rivals Manchester City regained the Premier League title and it was largely down to the impact of their defensive signing, Ruben Dias from Benfica.

United finished in a distant second in May, but can Varane have a similar impact on United as Dias for City in the upcoming season?

What can Varane now offer United and how does he compare to last season’s top Premier League centre-back, Dias?

Both players finished last season with two goals each.

In the passing department, Ruben Dias made nearly 1000 more passes over the course of the season, however, this would be due to Manchester City’s favoured possession-based style.

In terms of pass completion percentage, both players are similar.
Varane was on 91% while Dias was on 93%.

Varane is very capable of the long switch to either wing and off both feet. He played 692 passes with his weaker left foot compared to Dias’ 421.

It is, of course, in the defensive stats where the reading is particularly interesting.

Per 90 minutes, on average, Dias made 0.98 tackles to Varane’s 0.83. But versus dribbles, Varane managed over double the amount that Dias made, and the Frenchman was only dribbled past 0.3 times compared to Dias’ 0.54.

The Portuguese just edged it in defensive pressures and blocks but Varane made more interceptions, at 1.19 compared to 0.65 per game and slightly more clearances.

Perhaps most importantly for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, who were near the bottom of last season’s Premier League table for set-pieces conceded, Varane is good in the air.

His aerial duel success percentage was 75.3% compared to Dias’ 68.2%.

Of course, the step into Premier League football will be a challenge and it remains to be seen whether the four-time Champions League winning Varane can adapt quickly, but there is no doubt that Solskjaer will have acquired one of his desired ‘three world-class signings’ in Varane.

Official: Manchester United confirm signing of Madrid's Varane

Manchester United have officially announced the signing of Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, putting an end to the intense rumours of late.

The sensational Frenchman had been linked with a move for a few weeks now and fans can now celebrate thanks to the confirmation.

Although big progress has been made over the last 48 hours, many expected the transfer itself would only be announced either later in the week or over the weekend.

However, United have moved quickly to confirm the news and now the focus will be on who the club will target next.

Varane is one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s biggest signings since his reign began, and based purely on silverware as well as status, it could be argued he is the biggest.

The Red Devils put up the following statement on their website: “Manchester United is delighted to announce the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of French international defender and World Cup winner, Raphaël Varane, subject to a medical and to player terms being finalised.”

No hiccups are expected from now on and it’s understood Varane will have to quarantine before he can join his new teammates on the training ground.

Whether he completes his medical soon or after quarantining will have no bearing on if the deal goes through and only on when it will.

It’s understood Varane already completed a medical on his return to Madrid’s training facilities and there were no problems there.

New look United?: Fans to have their say in biggest changes yet

After the failed attempt to co-create the breakaway European Super League last April due to widespread fan uproar and protests, Manchester United’s maligned owners, the Glazer family, are now reportedly moving to follow up on their promise to establish a Fan Advisory board.

This advisory board was outlined by co-chairman, Joel Glazer in June, as an olive branch to the disgruntled fan base after the ESL debacle.

United fans have also consistently shown distaste for the debt that the Glazers have piled on the club and the money that has been taken out to pay interest and dividend payments every year.

The new Fan Advisory board will consist of seven supporters, two selected from the already established Fans Forum, the rest from Man United Supporters Trust, and up to five club executives.

According to The Telegraph, the recruitment process is to begin in the coming weeks.

It will meet quarterly and will be attended at least once a year by either co-chairman Joel or Avram Glazer.

According to Joel Glazer, the Fan Advisory board, and promised Fan Share Scheme, will ensure that supporters’ opinions are “embedded in key decision-making processes at every level of the club” going forward.

It should mean that the elected fan representatives will have a significant voice in any major decisions, like the ESL plot, that may impact the integrity of the club.

However, it remains to be seen whether these board members’ opinions will be implemented or that the group is merely a token outlet.

On the promised Fan Share scheme, it is hoped that the Glazers will allow fans and fan groups to purchase a significant amount of Class B shares, which hold voting rights.

But it may be the case that the amount of these shares that are put up for sale will be a tiny fraction of the total owned by the American family and certainly less than the 51% required to take the club out of their hands.

After the unprecedented protests at the start of May, that caused United’s Premier League clash with rivals Liverpool to be postponed, the Red Devils’ fans showed that they would not lie down as their club’s history was threatened, so much so, that the Glazers took serious notice.

The Fan Advisory board is the first step of many, to improving the way the Manchester club is run and the relations between owners and supporters.

It is without doubt that the intense fan scrutiny will not subside unless progress is made and sustained.

More unrest?: Man United star demands clear-the-air talks

Manchester United centre back Eric Bailly is reportedly concerned about his game time after the club agreed on a deal to sign Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

The Ivorian will seek clarification regarding his future at the club, according to ESPN.

Fabrizio Romano reported yesterday that the Red Devils had agreed a deal with Madrid for the transfer of Varane.

 

United will pay £34 million-plus add-ons with the payments being spread out over a number of years, as per David Ornstein.

With the arrival of Varane, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have seven senior centre backs at his disposal.

Bailly is said to be wary of his lack of first-team opportunities, which was one of his prime concerns before signing a new contract till 2024.

The 27-year-old has suffered numerous injuries during his time at United, making 106 appearances in five years.

He is currently playing at the Tokyo Olympics alongside teammate Amad Diallo, representing Ivory Coast.

If they manage to reach the finals, the duo will most likely miss the opening Premier League fixture on August 14 against Leeds United at Old Trafford.

Sources have told ESPN that Axel Tuanzebe is set to move away from Man United- either temporary or permanent, with Newcastle United reportedly interested.

Ones to watch: United agree deals for academy superstars

Manchester United have handed new contracts to three young players from their youth academy.

Forwards Joe Hugill and Charlie McNeill have agreed on long-term contracts after enjoying successful first seasons in the academy, as confirmed by the official Man United website.

Goalkeeper Paul Woolston has signed a one-year deal and will begin his fourth season with United.

 

Woolston played nine times for the Under-23s during the 2020/21 season and is a pivotal part of the academy’s goalkeeper department.

On the other hand, Hugill has made the jump to United’s Under-23s side, scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances.

Before joining the Red Devils in the summer of 2020, he had already been training with Sunderland’s senior team at 16.

United secured his services for £300,000 with plenty of interest from other Premier League teams.

The Englishman has been a revelation at the club, growing from strength to strength.

17-year-old Charlie McNeill has already caused a stir of excitement since re-joining Manchester United from cross-town rivals Manchester City.

McNeill grew up playing at Liverpool’s development centre before switching to Man United.

His speed, power, and finishing ability immediately caught the attention of scouts around the Premier League.

In 2013 he made the controversial switch to Manchester City to get more playing time. The decision was not taken lightly by his family of United fans.

Scoring 600 goals in six years for City’s academy, no one could argue that McNeill was an exceptional talent.

Manchester United are reportedly trying their best to move on Phil Jones, despite there being uncertainty over his future and a lack of communication.

The injury-prone centre-back has had a tough time at Old Trafford of late and it’s had nothing to do with the little game time he’s received.

United set to lose brilliant 23yo defender in permanent PL switch

Newcastle United have been linked with a swoop for Manchester United’s Axel Tuanzebe.

According to The Daily Telegraph, current Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is pushing his board to sign the promising defender on a permanent basis.

However, given the North-East club’s precarious finances, a loan move is thought to be the likelier outcome.

The centre-back is said to be well regarded among the Red Devils’ backroom staff, however injuries have limited his first team opportunities.

Despite an outstanding Champions League debut away to PSG in October, the academy graduate made just four Premier League starts last term.
