From Italy: United plot €40m deal for in form UCL hero

Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

United and Chelsea are said to be keen on landing the 26 year old.

The Red Devils could be on the hunt for a new goalkeeper in the summer, as Erik ten Hag plans to revamp his side.

David de Gea is expected to extend his current contract on reduced wages.

The 31 year old has had a mixed season.

While his shot-stopping has saved United on plenty of occasions, some fans are unsure about his sweeping and ability with the ball at his feet.

In order to accommodate him, Ten Hag has deployed a deeper defensive line in his first season.

United do require a modern goalkeeper, who is capable of sweeping, allowing the team to push higher up the pitch.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via FCInterNews), Inter have placed a €40 million price tag on Onana.

SempreInter report:

“The newspaper reports that the Blues have been tracking Onana as well as his Porto opposite number from that tie, Diogo Costa, as their search for a new keeper is in full swing.”

“Meanwhile, Manchester United are also thinking about a change between the sticks.”

“In this respect, Onana would be one of their major targets, the Gazzetta reports, as they could seek to reunite the former Ajax man with coach Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford.”
