Tactically inadequate?: A look into Solskjaer's biggest criticism

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had his fair share of critics and one of their biggest arguments is that he’s not good enough as a manager.

Often what they’re referring to is his supposed lack of knowledge or tactics and how he’s outwitted more than he outwits opposing managers.

However, the statistics below suggest that’s far from the truth and it proves Solskjaer deserves more credit than most give him.

United currently sit in second place with a game in hand on leaders and rivals Liverpool and it’s a credit to him he’s managed to lead the team there after the poor start to the season.

Whether or not he can take this team to the promised land remains to be seen but he’s certainly done a good job so far.

United started the year 27 points behind Liverpool having played a game more, we finish it 2 points behind Liverpool in first with a much better squad. His fanatical critics will never say it but OGS has done a magnificent job in 2020.

Given the statistics above, Solskjaer isn’t just performing well in his role but he’s also shown he’s tactically as good as any in the league.

The hope is he can continue to grow and begin to dominate the league in the way many at United want to see.

The competition for Solskjaer’s role has certainly decreased of late and so he should feel safer in his position as manager.
