Chelsea legend Pat Nevin has told the club’s official website that the form of new signing Hakim Ziyech has impressed him.
The 57-year-old spoke glowingly about the summer arrival from Ajax who has found his feet quickly in the Premier League after missing the first few weeks of the season through injury.
Writing in his column, former Chelsea winger Nevin said: “For all that defensive improvement over the past month, the one thing over the past week that has knocked me out has been the performance of Hakim Ziyech.”
The 27-year-old grabbed his first Premier League goal during Saturday’s win against Burnley, but it wasn’t just his eye for goal that impressed the former Scotland international as Nevin gushed: “That ability to see crucial through balls and be able to play them at the right time and the right pace in between packed defences is something we really needed to add to our arsenal.”
Nevin continued: “His pass to Timo Werner for the third goal was an overlooked moment of genius. Anyone from Kevin De Bruyne to Cesc Fabregas would have been proud of that assist.”

Having confirmed the deal to sign Ziyech from the Dutch giants way back in February, performances like the one Saturday from the Morocco international have seemed a long time coming.
Chelsea seem to have shored up their early-season defensive frailties whilst adding the fit-again Ziyech into an attack already bursting with quality – a combination which must be delightful for Frank Lampard.
