Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful that most of his senior squad can overcome injuries and illness over the past couple of weeks to be available for selection this weekend.
Speaking at today’s press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion, Solskjaer admitted that there were still doubts over a number of players, but only Phil Jones, Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard were not training.
The manager said it would be too soon for both Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo and decisions will be taken later over other stars.
‘Marcus joined in first time today so hopefully there’s no reaction,’ he said.
‘Victor we’ll have to check tomorrow because his back is not great.’
He was also asked specifically about Mason Greenwood, whose recent absences for club and country had not appeared to be fully explained.
‘You have to take a step back sometime. The boy’s only 19, he’s had a fantastic year,’ Solskjaer said.
‘Everybody’s allowed not to be well. And if you’re not well, you can’t train. He’s been away eight or nine days from training and we’re just starting building him up again.
‘I have no doubts about him, he’s got a good head on him and his talent is there for everyone to see.’
With Solskjaer under pressure to keep his job after a slow start to the season, United cannot afford any slip ups in tomorrow’s game against the winless Baggies, who have just three points from eight games.
