Chelsea summer signing Kai Havertz has spoken of his targets at Stamford Bridge after arriving for £72m from German club Bayer Leverkusen.
The 21-year-old Germany international spoke to the club’s official matchday programme ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League clash with Rennes, via Football.London, and gave an insight into how he’s adapting to life in the Premier League, saying: “It’s more physical and you won’t find a bad player in the league.”
Havertz has enjoyed a positive start to life in England with four goals and three assists in his first 10 Chelsea outings and has stated his targets for the future. He said: “The first target, always, is to have success and the main thing is to be healthy and have fun playing football.”
At just 21 and having enjoyed a stellar start to his professional career, Havertz hasn’t had many opportunities to suffer a crisis in confidence. However, the young attacking midfielder revealed he still suffers following poor performances, confessing: “The worst feeling in football is to lose games and play bad – after that, you have, like, three days in which you only think about the game before. So the best thing is to make sure you win games, score goals and have fun. That has always been the most important thing for me.”

Not many players have arrived at Stamford Bridge with a higher level of expectation in recent years than Havertz. The German youngster is a hugely exciting prospect who lit up the Bundesliga for two seasons as a teenager before joining the Blues.
Frank Lampard, who was of a similar ilk himself in his playing days, will surely be delighted to have landed a young talent who seems to have adapted quickly to life in west London.
