According to a report via Spanish source Marca, Real Madrid’s James Rodriquez will snub Arsenal’s advances to join up with Carlo Ancelotti, with the pair enjoying a successful spell in Madrid a few seasons back.
After two seasons at Bayern on-loan, Rodriguez returned to Madrid last summer and has been used sporadically – last featuring in a La Liga game in October 2019.
A quote carried in the Mirror from last summer, when Ancelotti was manager of Napoli, confirmed the now Everton boss’ admiration of James;
“I’m very attached to James, I rate him very highly and he can certainly improve our team.”
Arsenal had appeared to be one of the frontrunners to sign the ‘available’ 28-year-old Colombian, but Everton’s ambitious transfer strategy is setting up the Gunners to miss out in the next transfer window.
