David de Gea 6 – Was hardly called on but did make one or two decent saves to stop Tottenham from pulling level before his teammates’ defensive lapse.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka 6.5 – Can’t ask for more from him defensively but must deliver better crosses since he keeps getting into good positions.
Harry Maguire 5 – Manchester United fans haven’t seen anywhere near the best from their summer signing but he did play a few decent balls forward.
Victor Lindelof 5.5 – Wasn’t exposed aerially which is pretty rare and was decent on the ball but it’s defensively that’s the worry.
Ashley Young 5 – His experience was needed but was done by Dele Alli far too easily for Tottenham’s first. Should’ve done better.
Fred 7 – Was at his tenacious best and is clearly getting more confident on the ball too. If he keeps it up, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can release Paul Pogba as a 10.
Scott McTominay 7 – There were question marks over his fitness but it was clear to see why Solskjaer risked starting him. He’s quickly become crucial for Manchester United and didn’t seem to miss a beat.
Jesse Lingard 6 – Is slowly edging towards better form but could’ve done better on occasion as he would sometimes mis-control the ball during crucial counters.
Daniel James 6 – Wasn’t the brightest of the front three but worked hard off the ball. Had one or two shots that he arguably should’ve done better with.
Marcus Rashford 8 – It was a one-man show for much of the match with the sensational Englishman deciding to absolutely make his mark vs Tottenham.
Mason Greenwood 6 – Wasn’t involved in the game much but there wasn’t a lot of expectations on his shoulders after Anthony Martial‘s injury. Did well enough to keep his place on the bench next time.
