Manchester United players reportedly urged the club’s hierarchy to stick with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the manager faced enormous pressure ahead of the meeting with Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports.
The Norwegian entered the game with many calling for his head following a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Sunday.
However, a 2-1 victory over Jose Mourinho’s Spurs, with Marcus Rashford scoring twice, has eased the pressure on Solskjaer.
According to The Times, senior members of the dressing room signalled to the board ahead of the game that United players remained fully behind Solskjaer.
Reports prior to the game suggested that, should United lose to Spurs and Manchester City, Solskjaer would lose his job.
The more popular line – and the most believable one, too – states that Solskjaer’s position was never in danger ahead of the meeting with Spurs, and won’t be even if Pep Guardiola’s side dish out a drubbing to United on Saturday.
