Wolves got off to a good start in this match. The visitors were a real threat to Arsenal defensively but the Gunners soon settled in front of their home crowd.
The breakthrough came on the 20-minute mark. David Luiz found the ball in a wide area and his scuffed cross found Alexandre Lacazette with his back to goal. The Frenchman turned and squared for his strike partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to pass it into the corner.
The home side pressed forward in search of a second goal. Lucas Torrerira came close with an effort in the area, forcing a good save from Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio.
But the visitors grew in influence. Midfielder Matt Doherty forced an excellent stop from Bernd Leno just before the break to keep the score at 1-0.
Wolves started the second half on the front foot. They were on top, looked better drilled and more organised than the home side. Leno was again forced into a good stop to keep it at 1-0.
But that didn’t last. Wolves looked like they were running out of steam offensively but the Gunners handed them a golden chance on a plate.
It was a simple offensive throw-in which Arsenal messed up. Dani Ceballos switched off and didn’t track his runner who hooked a simple cross into the area and Jimenez was there to head home.
It was a blow which Arsenal didn’t really recover from. The Gunners pressed forward in search of a winner but never really looked likely to find it, struggling to create chances as they lost another two points.
