Manchester United will reportedly rival Liverpool in the race to sign Thomas Muller from Bayern Munich over the January transfer window, according to reports.
The German striker is said to be open to leaving Bayern in January after being pushed down the attacking pecking order following the arrival of Phillipe Coutinho.
Man United, meanwhile, are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements having dispensed with and failed to replace attacking duo Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez over the summer.
According to The Mirror (via Sports Mole), Liverpool and United will do battle over Muller’s signature once the window opens in January.
Liverpool expressed interest in Muller in 2017, with Jurgen Klopp making a concerted effort to bring his fellow countryman to Anfield, but no deal materialised.
For an attack desperately lacking experience and calmness in the box, bringing Muller – who seems like the kind of guy whose sole vocation in life is to poach goals – into the fold would be an inspired move, especially given that signing him would not cost very much at all.
