Despite initially being a fan of Bakayoko when Chelsea signed him from AS Monaco, it appears clear that he isn’t going to make the desired impact at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues should look to offload him permanently.
AC Milan were said to be keen on activating the £32million buyout clause in his loan deal towards the end of last season, but their failure to qualify for the Champions League ended any hope of that materialising, in what would have been a good deal for both parties.
Though he’s shown glimpses here and there of the form he produced for Monaco, the Frenchman has struggled to impress both Maurizio Sarri and now Frank Lampard, who has limited the midfielder to just 185 minutes of preseason action.
