David de Gea 6 – Could only watch as Ruben Neves’ fantastic effort went past him but was otherwise an idle goalkeeper.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka 7 – Defensively solid as always but it was one of those games begging for him to do more offensively. One area of his game that can improve.
Harry Maguire 7 – Strong and commanding he’s instantly made our defenders less nervous. Perhaps could’ve done more in set-pieces or on the ball.
Victor Lindelof 7 – Less of a presence than Maguire but quietly goes about his work. There will be more challenging games ahead.
Luke Shaw 6 – There’s always the feeling that he’s the weak link in Manchester United’s defence. Average defensively and offensively.
Scott McTominay 6 – Tireless and tenacious but didn’t offer much in terms of bringing the ball forward or playing risky passes.
Paul Pogba 5 – Wasn’t terrible but there’s the feeling he could’ve done so much more. The match was begging for him to dominate but instead he missed his penalty.
Daniel James 6 – Looked out of his depth at times but worked tirelessly to at least provide cover for Wan-Bissaka.
Jesse Lingard 5 – Ran a lot but it was more of a headless chicken kind of running. Had a chance to make it 2-0 but bottled it.
Marcus Rashford 7 – Was involved in the goal and some of United’s better passages of play but could’ve done more too.
Anthony Martial 7 – Netted a typically clinical finish and dropped deep several times to get on the ball more. Arguably could have held the ball up better.
