Manchester United have stalled on a deal to bring Bruno Fernandes to Old Trafford as they are focusing on Romelu Lukaku’s move to Inter Milan and signing Harry Magure, according to a report from Portugal.
Fernandes, who is reportedly open to joining Man United, is valued at around £70m by Sporting Lisbon, but Ed Woodward has prioritised other pieces of business, including the deal to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has targeted adding to the midfield area this summer after both Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera left the club.
However, according to Portuguese media, capturing Fernandes has been shelved by United as they work on Lukaku’s move to Inter Milan and a deal to sign Harry Maguire.
Maguire is a player United have admired since the 2017/18 campaign, during which the Englishman starred for Leicester City and played a key role for his country at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
United’s bid to sign the defender was halted by Leicester’s demand of £80m. Reports this summer have claimed that the Premier League club now wants around £90m. Prizing him away from the King Power Stadium will be very hard, and with less than a month until the English window shuts, it may not leave United with enough time to bring in a midfielder.
