Unai Emery has provided a positive update on the injury sustained by Alexandre Lacazette against Lyon on Sunday (via Arsenal.com).
It was a slightly disappointing afternoon for Arsenal as the Gunners lost 2-1 to Lyon in the Emirates Cup on Sunday.
Two goals from Moussa Dembele were enough for the Ligue 1 side to pick up the win but Arsenal fans were most concerned by the injury sustained by one key player.
The former Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette lasted just 13 minutes on the afternoon and was spotted in a leg brace on the substitute bench.
“It’s not important,” Emery confirmed when asked about the severity of the injury.
“He decided with the doctor and with me that it is better to take no more risk. He tried to continue playing but I think it was better in the pre-season to take patience.
“The doctor said to me he is going to check tomorrow but the thinking is that it is not important.”
Alexandre Lacazette was spotted in full training on Monday morning so it seems as if Unai Emery’s words are accurate. The forward is a crucial player for Arsenal so it’s a relief that he seems to be okay with the Premier League kickoff just a few weeks away.
