Chelsea youngster Reece James took to Twitter on Thursday to deliver an update on his recovery from injury.
The defender had a fantastic campaign on loan at Wigan Athletic in the Championship last term and appeared to have been in line for an involved role in pre-season.
However, during England Under-20s’ encounter with Chile Under-20s earlier on this summer, James was struck with a cruel injury blow.
Reports suggested that, as a consequence of sustaining a blow to his ankle ligaments, the 19-year-old would likely miss the start of the 2019/20 season under Frank Lampard.
While that may still be the case, James has shown that he is keeping his spirits up, as he posted a photo of himself having undergone successful surgery on his injury.
Twitter: I’m thankful Surgery went this evening. Minor set backs for major come backs! See you all soon! Thanks for the supp… https://t.co/K65o5s3aTP (@reecejames69)
Lampard will hope that the versatile youngster can make a speedy recovery and put himself into contention for a first-team berth at Stamford Bridge in the upcoming campaign.
