Manchester United target and Napoli star Elseid Hysaj has issued a timely statement admitting to a desire for a move away from his current surroundings.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is believed to be in the market for a right-back and so the defender’s comments have come at the perfect time.
The Albanian was previously linked with a move to Old Trafford but nothing come of it so far, though now there are signs it could be possible.
Hysaj would be an upgrade on United’s current options at right-back that include the likes of Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian and Diogo Dalot.
Solskjaer is said to be keen on investing smartly and the 25 year old would likely come cheap given his public desire to leave.
According to Manchester Evening News, Elseid said: “I’m absolutely ready for a new challenge because I need change.
“I’m not the type of person who likes to stay at a club for too long. I want to have new experiences, learn about a new country, meet new people, play for another team and maybe try to win something.
“For me, my time at Napoli is over and I hope to find a team that will give me what I need.”
Given his relatively young age, the Red Devils would likely get plenty of years of service out of him before his ability begins to decline.
While Dalot has tonnes of potential, it’s clear he needs a little more time before being given regular minutes in the starting XI.
The Portuguese could do with a mentor of sorts and Hysaj would certainly have plenty of experience to pass on.
Once Diogo is of age then the pair can compete head to head for the same spot which certain improve all those involved.
