Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno reportedly wants to play in every competition for the Gunners next season (via The Standard).
For the past few years, the Gunners have split goalkeeping duties between two senior stoppers depending on the competition.
With the departure of Petr Cech, Arsenal only have Leno and Emi Martinez as first-team goalkeepers at the club.
Some expected the Gunners would be in the market for another first-team stopper but reports suggest that Leno doesn’t want them to.
The Standard claims that Leno wants to become Arsenal’s first choice goalkeeper in both domestic and European competition next season.
The Gunners had been linked with a move for the young German goalkeeper Markus Schubert but it seems as if that will not pan out.
That opens up an opportunity for Bernd Leno to really make the number one spot his own. There’s little doubt that the German will be Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper next season. Leno outshone Cech last season and deserves a shot in both Premier League and Europa League competitions. It seems obvious to play your best players as often as possible.
