Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater could be set for a comeback with the Blues this season after being given a chance to impress by the new manager.
The 29-year old only featured once for Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri last season, coming off the bench for the remaining 30 minutes in Chelsea’s 2-0 Community Shield loss against Manchester City.
Having not featured at all competitively, the former Leicester City Premier League winner has been tipped to depart Stamford Bridge this summer in search of regular action.
However, according to the Leicester Mercury, the England international could be in luck, with it looking likely that he’ll be given another crack at the whip in London.
Frank Lampard is expected to be announced as the new Chelsea manager later this week, and according to the Mercury’s report, the current Derby boss will give the midfielder the chance to impress.
Having signed for the Blues for £35million in 2017, Drinkwater impressed enough before making the leap to Stamford Bridge, and the player would surely relish the opportunity to impress if given the opportunity.
