PSG star Thomas Meunier has broken his silence on reports claiming he will complete a transfer to Manchester United ahead of what is a crucial summer for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Norwegian is stuck in an awkward position where it’s said he doesn’t want to hinder Diogo Dalot’s development but also wants to improve on his first-choice right-back in Ashley Young.
It was believed Solskjaer’s main target was Aaron Wan-Bissaka but having two youngsters battling it out for one position can be less than ideal.
Thus reports emerged on interest in Meunier who’s said to be a United fan, meaning a transfer shouldn’t be difficult to complete.
The Belgian would provide experience while Dalot develops before eventually passing on the baton.
According to Manchester Evening News, Thomas said to Canal+: “As I have said, nothing is clear, with regards to me or the club.
“People are enquiring, left and right, but I still have another year on my contract. The club knows my position, I have always said that I want to stay.
“Aside from that, do I suit them or not, do they want to change the Paris cycle a bit? Nothing is clear for the moment and we are going to see what happens.
“I think that I will receive news during the holidays.”
Though he doesn’t sound too convinced over his future at PSG, it still sounds rather unlikely he’ll complete a move to Manchester United.
Perhaps Meunier was convinced on moving before Ole’s men failed to qualify for next season’s edition of the Champions League.
Reports have also emerged of Dani Alves’ potential departure from PSG which would leave the right-back spot wide open again for the 27 year old.
Nonetheless, anything can happen this summer which is set up for plenty of twists and turns.
