Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho expects the Europa League final to be Eden Hazard’s final game for the club, with a move to Real Madrid looming.
The Belgian international has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu in recent months, with Zinedine Zidane extremely interested in signing Hazard to fill the void that Cristiano Ronaldo left when he joined Juventus.
Hazard has been in fine form this season once again for Chelsea. He has netted 16 goals and bagged 15 assists in 37 matches this year in the Premier League.
It was arguably his best season in a Chelsea shirt and there is no surprise that a team of Real Madrid’s standard are looking to sign the winger.
And former Madrid and Chelsea manager, Mourinho, expects the Europa League final against Arsenal to be Hazard’s last game for the club.
Talking to Sky Sports, cited by the Metro, he said:
It looks like it is the last match in blue for Eden Hazard.
He is a player that was crucial for Chelsea’s success in this last generation and Eden also will try to be what he is the majority of the time – a fantastic player on the pitch.
He will want to win and possibly go to Real Madrid with a last trophy for Chelsea.
With Mourinho being a former manager for both sides, it is likely that he is very clued on with all the ongoings with both clubs and will be aware of the likelihood of Hazard signing for Real Madrid.
The Spanish side have struggled to find form and consistency this year, with Zidane joining the club as manager again late on in the season.
It is argued that Ronaldo was the main reason for their success, but will Hazard be able to make up for the Portuguese’s absence if he joins the Spanish capital next season?
Only time will tell.
