Sheffield Wednesday boss Steve Bruce has expressed his intentions to sign on-loan defender Michael Hector.
The centre-back has made 35 appearances for the Championship side this season and has put in a good shift for their back line, with his large presence and defensive awareness.
With Wednesday pushing for a higher finish in the league table having not qualified for the play-offs, Bruce will be looking to keep his squad as strong as possible ahead of the new campaign.
Speaking to The Sheffield Star’s Dom Howson, this is what he said about the centre back’s future:
We would love to bring Michael back. Of course I would. Whether it’s possible. We have to speak to Chelsea and see what we can do.
Wednesday registered their 10th clean sheet on Monday, after defeating in-form Bristol City 2-0 at Hillsborough.
Reaching an agreement may not be so simple with Chelsea’s transfer ban still up in the air, as the Blues attempt to appeal it.
Hector still has one more year left on his contract with parent club Chelsea, however, his future still remains uncertain. The Jamaican international is yet to play a competitive game for the Blues since joining in 2015.
