Unai Emery has praised FC Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti ahead of the summer transfer window (via The Mirror).
The summer transfer window is still a few months away but there’s a feeling that much of the leg work is already being done.
Transfers are often arranged months in advance of the window with clubs eager to improve on the areas they’re weak in.
Arsenal have a definite weakness at centre-back and have already been linked with targets. This week, Unai Emery spoke about one of them.
“He’s a very good player,” Emery told RMC Sport when asked about FC Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti.
“France has a lot of very good footballers who are playing abroad. The French league is a very attractive market for a lot of teams.
“I’ve always had French players in my teams. At Valencia, Sevilla, PSG and here at Arsenal.
“I’ve always been able to count on those players.”
Samuel Umtiti could reportedly be sold by FC Barcelona this summer after the Frenchman lost form and his place in the starting lineup. He’s shown his quality throughout the last few years and would be an excellent signing for Arsenal. It seems that Unai Emery agrees.
