Manchester United fans have reacted to the news of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s permanent appointment positively but have also called on the board to ensure his success continues.
Many believe a director of football must be appointed and the Norwegian must be backed in the transfer market.
There has been growing concerns from supporters that the board only appointed Solskjaer as they believe he will save them money long-term given how he’s improved United already.
Reports had emerged that the club chiefs felt that the former Molde boss has saved them £50m as they no longer feel the need to invest in a centre-back.
Fans feel that signings need to be made regardless of whoever is in charge but now that Ole is the manager, they’re adamant he must be supported this summer.
Key now for #mufc is to appoint a director of football. Leaving it late for this summer's window, since due diligence has begun and targets identified. Bayern's swiftness in signing quality in Pavard and Hernandez has to be the benchmark.

Ed Woodward needs to appoint a DOF as soon as possible now, Ole will need the support of a person who understands and breathes football in the summer transfer window.
Come on United #mufc

Patience is the key at United now! Six years since we won the title and we've been nowhere near in that time. Ole shouldn't be expected to deliver the title next year. It's a rebuild from here and Ole needs to be backed by the fans the board#MUFC

Now OGS has got the job on a full time basis, the board has to back him financially and let him make his own decisions. Or it’ll be a Jose repeat.

My thoughts…
great timing
doesn’t drag into summer
hard work has already started
now for a DoF
realign club with academy
sign three world class players #MUFC #Solskjaer— Tom McDermott (@MrTomMcDermott) March 28, 2019
I’m still not convinced we’ll ever challenge for the league title until the club is reformed, irrespective of who the manager is.
Given the structural problems at all the other top 6, Liverpool & City will never have a better opportunity to pull clear of the rest.

David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho were all sufficiently supported by the board in terms of finances but it’s clear to see many of their signings were poor deals.
Occasionally poor because the player failed to make an impact or occasionally poor because the club overspent.
This is why fans feel getting the director of football decision right is almost as important as getting the managerial call right as well.
