Eden Hazard has mocked former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois after his howler for Belgium against Russia in their Euro 2020 qualification match, as reported on the Daily Mail.
With Belgium leading the match 1-0, the ball was played back to Courtois, who looked hesitant.
He failed to get total control of the ball and began to dribble his way into trouble. The ball then fell to Denis Cheryshev, who gleefully curled the ball into the empty net, leaving Courtois embarrassed.
Luckily for the Real Madrid shot-stopper, his side went on to win 3-1, thanks to a brace from Hazard. The Chelsea playmaker joked about the incident following the game. He said:
Thibaut Courtois watches a lot of videos of my actions and then he tries to copy me.
The problem is, he is much taller than me, so it isn’t that easy.
Since leaving Chelsea, Courtois has been enduring a torrid time with Real Madrid and Belgium. The keeper was dropped for Zinedine Zidane’s first match in charge of Real Madrid and question marks are being raised about his future with the Spanish giants.
