Chelsea are being investigated by the Football Association over their signing of Andreas Christensen in 2013, according to Goal.
The FA are looking into alleged illegal payments to the Denmark international’s father Sten around the time of his transfer from Brondby, where the club allegedly hired him as a scout on the same day as signing the centre-back, paying him £650,000 over four years.
Under Premier League rules, clubs are not allowed to make payments to the families of minors, and the FA have been strict in punishing clubs who break these rules, handing Everton and Liverpool fines and youth transfer bans in the past for doing so.
An FA spokesman revealed to Goal that “The FA [are] aware of the allegations and [they] are reviewing them.”
According to Football Leaks’ original allegation, published by Politiken and cited by Goal, goalkeeping coach Sten worked on the coaching staff at Brondby and did so after ‘signing’ for Chelsea – never actually working as a scout for the club.
If the Blues are handed a youth transfer ban, it will come at the worse possible time, with the club also in the process of appealing a two-window ban on senior transfers for a breach of conduct regarding the signing of foreign players under the age of 18.
