David de Gea has indicated he wants to commit his long term future to Manchester United thanks to the revival engendered by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to reports.
The Spaniard has been in contract talks with Man United for over a year, with Jose Mourinho stating back in November that all parties were leaning towards an extension at Old Trafford.
Various reports have suggested that, although the club has agreed on shelling out around £350,000-a-week for De Gea’s new wage package, there remain complications over agent fees and final terms.
However, according to the Mail‘s Adam Crafton, De Gea remains steadfastly in favour of committing his long term future to United. The change in mood and results since Solskjaer’s arrival in December has helped to make up the 28-year-old’s mind.
De Gea enjoys life in Manchester and has a strong connection with the club’s supporters, who idolise him more than almost any other player.
On top of that, the spectre of Real Madrid no longer exists following the club’s acquisition of Thibaut Courtois in the summer. The prospect of moving back to Spain, where he is heavily maligned by the press, does not tempt De Gea like it did in 2015.
