Manchester City have formally apologised to Chelsea for playing Madness after the full-time whistle on Sunday.
Sky Sports confirm that club officials from the Premier League champions reached out to the Blues to apologise for their mistake.
‘One Step Beyond’ is famously played at Stamford Bridge after games and City shocked many in the stadium as it was blared out around the ground following the 6-0 defeat.

While it appears to have been an honest mistake, it could have quite easily be misconstrued as a disrespectful act by Pep Guardiola’s side.
Many Chelsea fans would have seen this as one last kick in the teeth, in an act that rounded off a day to forget for all involved with the club.
The report claims that Chelsea were surprised to hear the song choice at full time, but have since accepted City’s apology.
The defeat has seen Chelsea drop out of the top four and raised serious questions about Sarri’s position as head coach.
