Chelsea have rejected Thibaut Courtois’ claims that the club had strictly agreed to sell him during the summer transfer window, according to a report from The Telegraph.
The Blues offloaded the Belgian international to Real Madrid shortly before the window slammed shut in August but he was left frustrated by the ordeal that surrounded the move.
The ex-Atletico Madrid loanee had reportedly been absent from pre-season training sessions at the club, prompting them to decide on his future.

Courtois had only a year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge and recently indicated that Chelsea had agreed with him before the summer’s World Cup in Russia that they would let him leave if a suitable offer came in.
Suddenly after the World Cup, a departure wasn’t that obvious anymore. All possible targets seemed too expensive. That was not what we had agreed on.
However, as per The Telegraph’s report, this was not the case, and the Blues have furiously denied that any promises were made or, for that matter, broken.
The London club proceeded to purchase Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao to replace Courtois, making the young Spaniard the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.
